Letter At Christmas

Christmas is for many a time of joy and happiness, enjoying much needed time with loved ones. For some of us though, Christmas can be bring grief and sorrow when missing loved ones gone too soon.

Margaret is a friend of a Black Dog Rider. This is her fifth Christmas without her daughter Martine. Margaret has written this poem from the heart, words of reminiscing and finding resilience, at Christmas.

Thank you Margaret, we hope your words give strength to all who mourn loved ones this festive season.

Letter at Christmas

A letter arrived
at my front door today,
Postmarked 'from Heaven'
and I knew right away,

Daylight has dawned
and Christmas is here,
I'll open this note,
its contents so dear,

Once again your chair is empty,
but I see you sitting there,
And I caught the scent of fragrance,
emerging in the air,

The sounds of your sweet whispers,
I hear it from the deep,
Secretly I listen;
they're all mine now to keep,

You view those endless Christmas trees,
around the globe below,
Like Angel's lights the stars shone bright,
illuminating snow,

At play you hear the children
chanting out a prayer,
But sounds of their quaint music can't compare,
to your Christmas Choir…up there,

You're sitting near the window,
with sunlight on your face,
A silhouette so beautiful,
sitting quietly laced with grace,

Your star is here with me today…
and Christmas day is on the way,
Like all good things we dream for and pray,
but your memory can never be taken away.
