Day 1
The journey begins.
Sunday morning 26th July at the Goose Cafe Busselton saw the launch of Black Dog Ride.
David and Phil from South West Music provided fabulous background sounds, Busselton Lions were in attendance along with Bunbury Ulysses members, the honourable, Troy Buswell, local member of Parliament and Deputy Leader of WA government was MC and around 100 people turned out to send me off, on my way around the country.
There were many well wishes and donations to my cause, the Suicide Call Back Service, flowed freely. The support offered by my family, friends and the local community in general was fantastic and slightly overwhelming. Following a few formalities and a some unsavoury comments from Troy about my special "high performance" underwear, and to the pumping sound of Born to be Wild I headed off for Albany with about 50 bikes close behind. It was quite a sight and an amazing feeling!
We headed up to Bunbury to pick up Highway 1 and then down towards Albany. Along the way riders came and went eventually arriving in Albany with 10 riders where we were greeted by Lions Elizabeth and Norman Marnham who made us and a number of other Lions very welcome. The local press attended and a good time was had by all.
My sincere thanks go out to everyone who made Day 1 so special.
