2014 Black Dog Ride 1 Dayer
Frequently Asked Questions
• Do I have to pre-register for this ride?
Yes you should. With over 30 legs of this ride nationwide and over 7,000 riders on the roads, pre-registration really helps our volunteer teams plan for safety, merchandise and catering.
Plus, if you pre-register you can go in the national raffle draw for a 9ct gold uniquely handcrafted Black Dog Ride 2015 1 Dayer ring! For more details on that, see the main 1 Dayer webpage here.
• How do I pre-register?
Find your local ride by browsing here and click on the registration link. You can pay via credit or debit card (pre-paid Visas are available at Australia Post Outlets or here).
• Where do I get a ride patch?
If you have pre-registered, when you check in on the ride day you will be issued with a 2015 Black Dog Ride 1 Dayer badge and decal.
If you haven't pre-registered, you will only receive a ride badge and decal if there are enough to spare. Pre-registration helps us stock enough BDR merchandise for all riders.
• Does ride registration include meals and drinks?
No, unless otherwise indicated, payment of all refreshments on the day are the responsibility of the rider.
• I have a scooter, can I join the ride?
All vehicles joining the ride must be able to safely maintain highway speeds, be registered and insured. We ask that smaller machines and P platers stay at the rear of the group at all times for the safety of all road users.
• I'm on my L Plates. Can I still join the ride?
Learner Riders, providing they can safely maintain highway speeds as above, are welcome on Black Dog Ride 1 Dayers. They must remain at the rear of the group under the supervision of an experience licensed rider at all times whilst on the road with Black Dog Ride to ensure the safety of all road users.
• What do I do if I need a refund or transfer?
Please contact Fiona who will assist you.
• Why do I need to fill out certain info when registering for the ride?
BDR needs this information to ensure we can fulfil our duty of care for over 7,000 riders nationwide should an accident, illness or medical emergency arise whilst on the ride.
Please do not use your pillion or visa versa as a next of kin contact. Use the details of a trusted person whom we can contact should you require medical or emergency assistance on the ride. Black Dog Ride complies with the Privacy Act 1988 and your information is never shared or sold with any outside entities.
• Will Winston be available for purchase on the day?
Due to prohibitive freight costs, merchandise at each leg of the 1 Dayer will be limited. You can purchase all your BDR gear in the BDR Online Shop here. We love to see black dogs on bikes, especially our mascot Winston, so bring him along on ride day. Make sure you tie him down well!
• Help! I have never joined a group ride before! What advice do you have for me?
Australian Road Rider Mag has some good general advice about group rides here. If you have pre-registered, your Ride Coordinator may email general advice to you before the ride. Contact your Ride Coordinator for more specific advice.
• Are all roads sealed?
Yes, the rides are conducted on sealed roads, however there may be unforeseen roadworks on route. Your local Ride Coordinator can advise you.
• What if the ride route changes or there is inclement weather?
Should unforeseen circumstances arise, your Ride Coordinator will contact you.
